Meta-Search Sovereignty: Deploying SearXNG to Block User Profiling
The Context: "The 3 AM Trigger"
Every search query reflects your current thoughts and plans, which public search engines bundle and sell. We deployed SearXNG to run anonymous queries across multiple search engines.
The Problem Statement
Aggregate search results from various engines without transmitting user IP addresses or tracking cookies.
Visual Architecture: The Flow
The Core Logic / Process
Anonymization Pipeline Setup
- Proxy Requests: SearXNG acts as a buffer, striping cookies and HTTP headers.
- Tor Routing: Configure backend queries to route through Tor nodes for true IP rotation.
- No Log Policy: Disable request logs completely inside settings.yml.
The "Baigan" Take (Expert Insights)
DuckDuckGo is nice, but self-hosting your search portal is the real deal. Baigan ka profiling nakko hona (we don't want any profiling). Host SearXNG, remove search tracking, and run clean queries.
Performance & Implementation Checklist
- Set logs configuration to debug: false and store_ip: false.\n- [ ] Configure backend engines list to exclude tracking endpoints.: Configure backend engines list to exclude tracking endpoints.\n- [ ] Route outgoing queries through local Privoxy + Tor tunnel.: Route outgoing queries through local Privoxy + Tor tunnel.
